Independent rental businesses operate through a fragmented combination of booking websites, spreadsheets, messaging apps, payment processors, manual agreements, and scheduling tools. The result is operational friction for the operator and unnecessary steps for the customer.

Street Rental is a multi-tenant vertical SaaS platform for independent vehicle-rental operators. It combines traditional reservations and self-service Scan & Go rentals within one tenant-aware operating system — with shared fleet, availability, pricing, payments, customer workflows, contracts, and operational controls.

Designed around tenant isolation from the beginning — not converted from a single-business app later. Each rental company operates inside its own isolated workspace with scoped fleet, pricing, availability, and customer data.
Platform terms (Street Rental ↔ Tenant) and renter-facing rental agreements (Tenant ↔ Renter) are separate versioned concepts. Historical bookings retain the policy snapshot that applied at booking time — enabling auditability and customer protection.

Live availability and pricing pull from HQ Rental as the source of truth. The agent collects missing pickup/return details, normalizes dates and times, checks live vehicle availability, and returns only available vehicle classes at current pricing — without inventing data.

When no vehicle is available, the system captures the customer's search, monitors HQ Rental inventory, and sends exactly one operational email when availability opens — then closes the request. Designed with deterministic deduplication, grouped API calls to avoid unnecessary polling, a limited monitoring window, and automated expiration.

Routes customers to a self-service HQ Rental flow for reservation identification, new return date/time, availability validation, incremental pricing, and transaction completion. Investigated modification-routing logic to identify where requests were unnecessarily falling into manual review.

Designed to send active renters one relevant weather update per day based on the Jeep's current or last-known location. Privacy-first design: no route history, no continuous polling, no movement tracking. Reads one location point → local weather via NWS → customer email → stops. Uses minimum vehicle-location data required to deliver the experience.

Inbound email workflow that receives structured or semi-structured customer requests, extracts relevant fields using a lightweight AI model, validates them deterministically, stores workflow state, and sends transactional confirmation via Resend. Small businesses rarely need more software. They need fewer manual steps. The pattern I found across every SMB engagement: repetitive workflows, missed leads, fragmented tools, and support burden that could be eliminated with the right product thinking and automation.
Every engagement started with the same question: where does the customer experience break down, and what's the smallest change that fixes it? Automation followed product clarity — not the other way around.
